Call
| The Central Washington Family Medicine clinic functions much more like a community practice than the typical residency clinic. Both Yakima hospitals and the Family Medicine Center are centrally located – within a mile of each other. Most residents live within 10 minutes of these practice settings. As a result, most hospital and clinic call easily occurs from home.
Call averages no more than one in four nights during all three years of training. There are several call-free months in each year, and even on the busy inpatient service, there are two call-free weekends per month. Our scheduling protocol adheres strictly to the duty hours rules, allowing adequate time for resident to rest.
