PEDIATRIC HOSPITALIST
A unique opportunity exists for pediatric hospitalists in the Pacific Northwest! Yakima is a community of about 85,000 with a draw from 250,000 in the surrounding valley. It is located 2 ½ hours southeast of Seattle in sunny Central Washington. Yakima enjoys all 4 seasons and about 290 days of sunshine per year. It is approximately 45 minutes from excellent skiing and immediate access to world-class fishing, hiking, hunting, and boating. Other recreational opportunities include access to fine dining, wine tours, theatre and more. Yakima is a great place to raise a family and offers a fair housing market, outstanding public and private schools, a community college with satellite access to Washington State University.
The pediatric hospitalist program is well supported by pediatricians and family practitioners throughout the community. There are approximately 3300 newborn deliveries per year and a level 3 NICU staffed by neonatologists and neonatal NP’s at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and will be expanding to Yakima Regional Hospital..
Duties include inpatient management of pediatric patients, consultations from other physicians, ER evaluations and consultations, pediatric trauma support and evaluation of newborns. Deliveries are attended by the neonatal team. Additional duties include active teaching of family medicine residents from Central Washington Family Medicine Residency Program and second year pediatric residents from the University of Washington.
